I've got exact the same model of the drive. The only difference is that mine one has build Feb instead Mar. My drive has got bad all the surface, but electronics seems to be ok. Make sure you've bad electronics and there is no chances to get it where you live. I'm not really sure about the shipping, I live quite far from Europe/USA.

My IBM deskstar 80G just died last week, and I believe it's the controller electronics, because the PC won't boot when it's connected.
If your deskstar died because the HDD wouldn't spin-up, but the BIOS could still recognize the model number, etc. the electronics may still be good. And I might be able to recover my data by swapping your circuit board with my old one.

My drive is P/N 07N9210 build Mar-2002
IC35L080AVVA07-0 82.3GB

Let me know if it's possible.

Thanks! The good thing about Camstudio is a lossless copression within swf flash file, it's great for building tutorial and stuff. I'm not really sure it's that useful for my blog which I'd like to see generally for conceptual things instead tutorial, but there is some place for tips and tricks which needs to be visualized.

Basically, I think I'm going to use CamStudio for tweak sessions. I think people would love to see how things get tuned in realtime.

Nice one! I'm used to working with Premiere and Snagit now, but would love to see how Camstudio works for you. Drop me a line when you get it going, and best of luck mate!

Thanks for the namecheck - I had read your blog before I started the Reaktor Diary, I remember thinking "Hmm, I might have to break out the video camera here". Good luck with the new hard drive, the QM and the bikes...
