I’m not dead I swear!

Many of you might think I’m dead just like the blog, but it’s not that as it seems. There were many of reasons this blog got frozen, many of these still are. But hell with them, I just paid for another year of the blog hosting, I updated the blog engine, I got rid with tons of spam. I got publications to post. This is my life-time diary.

Now I want to share some great link - Cyberworm’s sample blog. Some really awesome sound packs!

First hardware QM synthesis realization

Hey and Happy New Year guys!

The time goes slow and it still goes. Beatretreat did a first hardware QM synthesis patch for Clavia Nord Modular G2 recently. Unfortunately, I can’t afford any of Clavia gears. But I’ve got another little New Year present for my self, I’ve bought - Korg MS2000R. Gotta ruin a couple of days to explore the gear. I wonder if it’s possible to alter the firmware to make possible QM synthesis inside the MS2000. Anyway, I hope I’ll make first true analogue QM synthesizer this year. Of course, major synths builders are not interested in technologies besides their own ones, especially when it comes to the simple&effective ones, remember James Dyson with his cyclonic separation?… Anyway, I’m pretty interested in building my own QM synth prototype now.

I’ve been quite busy lately. And honestly, I didn’t manage to get my hands back to Reaktor. But anyway, I’ve got some future plans for the project and a couple of frozen ensembles to unfreeze. See ya.

First QM-Synth VSTi for download

K.M.Krebs just released a free VSTi version of QM-Synth based on my QM Synthesis description. I’ve checked out the synth, it works pretty well, I haven’t noticed any bugs yet. Despite the fact that the synth done in SynthEdit it’s quite usable for creative sound design within any VST-compatible host. The synth lacks high frequencies tuning resolution, but it features 2 LFOs for the both OSC’s - source wave and quantization. Honesty, I was planning to make a VSTi version myself some time ago, but it’s really great K.M.Krebs has done it ahead of me. The synth’s really worth to check out if you don’t own Reaktor and got some interest in experimental synthesis.

1 Year online!

Hey!

It’s been quite a lot of time since I promised to continue my posting at SynthOfMine.com. Summer is gone, just like my unofficial vacation. Well, my project isn’t aimed for a big popularity, so I have to admit, I’ve neglected my posting for a while. This time I won’t promise anything, next post I’ll just post usual Reaktor related material with no big announce. I’m not sure about timing, I’ve got the idea, I’ve the ensemble, but I’m not really happy with the controls inside. Knobs/faders just don’t fit into the idea. But the solution is a technical question.

Recently I’ve got few nice feedback about my project, I’d like to thanks people who keeps an eye at the site over the year. I put quite a big amount of energy at the beginning, so, I just had to take some time to rest and comeback fresh.

See ya!

Coming Back To Life

Hello there!

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted something useful. Of course, I really do hope you’ve enjoyed the QM synthesis, and also I hope you won’t put the idea on a dusty shelf.

Now, I’ve set my hardware and software back to life, I’ve got another xDSL connection which makes a big difference to me. Now I’m ready to comeback to posting my ideas. Next few days I’ll be working in Reaktor, then it’s gonna happen.

Requiem for a drive

Hey guys! The last post was a giant block to the site fundamental. I put quite a lot of efforts into the post, but now I realize that’s not my maximum. There are still interesting thoughts and ideas to share, a long way to go.

I’m not really if Dave Pape has read my blog and get inspired, and I’m quite sure the general idea of my blog is flying in the air these days, but he’s started a Reakor diary at blogspot. I couldn’t put any serious attention to the blog yet, but I think it’s great it goes detailed and video attached.

And one of the main reasons for my long delay after the recent post is my new hdd’s crash down. I’m building my new PC system and recently bought Samsung SpinPoint 160G hard disk drive. The drive was working for 5 days without a flaw, next day it began to experience huge calibration problems for some strange reason. And right after I managed to back up all the data it just died, it died next reboot right after the backup. There was no risk to lose any important data including my Reaktor related stuff, but still quite unusual death case for a drive.

See you soon!

P.S. The artwork uses my old IBM deskstar 80G which is also dead :)

Happy New Year!

I’m about to celebrate NY that coming in a day. I’ll come back with the ideas I’ve been excited those months about. Read the rest of this entry »
