Custom Wave Oscillator

Another my ordinary building block - Custom Wave Oscillator (CWO). Another bone to my synths. I could say there is no anything special, but I have to admit there are things that do unique stuff working side by side to the other ordinary building blocks. By the end of this year you’ll get what the hell I’m talking about (I hope :) ). Right now, there is general info for the macro:

Custom Wave Oscillator

In/Out terminals:

  • Output [wireless] : 0…+1
  • Modulator input [wireless]: 0…+1
  • Sync input [wireless]: >+0.5
  • Pitch Shift input: halftones

CWO has got 2 modes: Regular and LFO oscillations. Regular oscillations mode provide usual note based frequencies. LFO mode has timing similar to LFO unit. To control waveform you have 8 sequenced sliders on board. Basicly, there is no anything complicated at the control panel. You also should be familiar with parabolic shaper and modulation. But I believe the “L<>R” knob needs an additional description. Well, the knob controls crossfader module which is connected to CWO’s ramp and step oscillators. There is a picture that shows how the knob controls the waveforming:

As you can see it looks similar to a quantization. Generally, the crossfading of the oscillations (ramp and step) gives a sliding effect in the middle mixing positions. Mostly it’s useful to make some kind of LFO gliding between steps of the oscillator.
